Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. This might be the best phrase to describe hip hop artist Forsaken. This Iowa native combines lyricism with reality, some real hip hop for a market flooded with the same repetitive bullsh**. A new voice for music fans ready for a change.Raised up outside of Cedar Rapids, Forsaken has been involved with hip hop for more than 8 years, collaborating with DJ Commando since 2002. Recording with DJ Episode in Des Moines since 2005 he has built up a large catalog of entirely original material, along the way releasing the I of the Storm Mixtape with 17 tracks. Working on a new album, Forsaken has been working with other local artists and he has performed all around the area including stops in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City.Influenced mainly by 90’s east coast rap, which is evident in his style, the main contributors to the Forsaken’s style are Tupac, Nas, Jay-Z, the High and the Mighty, and The Last Emperor. Brought up on the classics, he brings a breath of fresh air to the new era, proving that hip hop is alive and well in Iowa. SUPPORT LOCAL HIP HOP!!
