About Me

NOW PLAYING: "She Makes Me" (May)

a somewhat obscure Queen song performed by me

This is Bruce Holloway (aka "Mr. Holloway" to my students at BUHS, but we can be informal here) . Welcome to my MySpace site. Google indicates that I've been on the Internet since the early '90's:

There's an extensive "professional" site as a teacher of high school Introductory Physical Science.

There's a review of the first Terrastock gathering in 1997 (a three-day festival of indie psychedelic music held in an old warehouse in Providence, Rhode Island).

There are also hidden (from Google) archives of articles and reviews posted to the DroneOn and TerraObscura mailing lists. Samples of some of these, and other writings, are available for reading at my on-line portfolio .

I was also a professional ice hockey player, a beer writer from New Zealand, and I shot down 13 planes during World War II.

Okay, those last three were other Bruces, but this Bruce made the top 2 Google spots - so there!

When not teaching, I am learning: I am a voracious reader of fiction and non-fiction. I try to keep up with science and technology (though I was behind the curve with MySpace). I'm active in my local community theater scene (acting in lead and character roles), and writing, performing, and recording music with my wife Cassandra. I've been teaching myself the guitar for 3 years, and mess around with a keyboard and PC-based home studio. My first CD of mostly covers was self-released in December 2005, a CD of orginal music with Cassandra is half-finished, and I even contributed a track of manipulated radio static to the DroneOn tape compilation back in 1996. Basically, I used to spend more time enjoying other people's music and writing about it, whereas now I spend more time trying to create the art myself.
