I guess that means whom I admire.
I'm fortunate that most of the people I admire I can admire on a distance and still get a kick out of it. I love to read about and see photos of inspiring people who once lived or those who live. I saw pictures Brad Pitts house and I get a kick out of that (the architecture). I read a photo book on Marilyn and learned she was not just photogenic but also bright, fucked-up and many other things. “Inside the White House†is a favorite of mine; it’s a photo book on the Clinton presidency with great black and white photos. I learn about photography, history, people and all from such a book.
Meeting real celebrities are often disturbing because they almost always have an entourage of “stop-people†around them so you really never get to talk about anything worthwhile. Or you are so dumbstruck it’s a waste of time anyways.
Else I admire many people whom I actually later get to meet for projects, interviews, photos or whatever.
In short: I admire people, who dream things, want to accomplish things, DO things and make things better for themselves and others. The larger and longer (in time) they think, the more I admire them.
I once asked JFK’s speechwriter what sums up “great leadership†in all the kings, leaders and crooks he had met in his life.
JUDGEMENT! was his answer. I think that says it all. Those are the people I admire.
