Ras Mohan
has been performing and recording music since the age of 12. Primarily a drummer, he also is proficient on piano, bass, guitar and percussion.Since the age of 14, he was immersed in the sounds of reggae
music, listening to artists Bob Marley, Burning Spear,
Culture, the Gladiators, Jacob Miller and many other foundation
groups out of Jamaica.At the age of 16, he became the drummer for the Underground
Muse Project, an original music band playing a fusion of reggae, hip-hop, and
jazz that opened for the Wailers.In 2003, Ras Mohan was invited by Joseph Hill of Culture to live at his
home in Stony Hill, Jamaica while he pursued his musical studies at the Edna Manley College of Performing Arts in Kingston. He was blessed to be mentored by legendary guitarist Earl “Chinna†Smith, with whom he spent many hours "inna da yard".When he returned to the States in 2004, Ras Mohan teamed up with Keith Porter and David Isaacs of The Itals and performed as their drummer for an international tour culminating in Montreal, Canada at the Montreal Summer Reggae Festival.From 2005-2007 he performed with Universal Recording artist Joseph Israel and the Jerusalem Band, featuring Joseph Israel, Chris Meredith (bass player for Stephen Marley), Rochelle Bradshaw, Erica Newell
and Alrick Thompson, Grammy Award Winning Engineer.In 2006 Ras Mohan went to Kingston, Jamaica to record with reggae dancehall artist Earth Worm at Buju Bantan's Gargamel Music Studios. Jermaine Reid engineered the project. Big up to Bazuru for bringing in Singer J and Powerman to voice on the No Stress Riddim.For the past two years, Ras Mohan has been touring from Louisville, Kentucky to Key West, Florida with Jah Creation. Locally, he sits in with Unchained Reggae Band, Steve Martinez and the Give Thanks Band, Stable Roots, Ever-G and Crucial Fyah.
