The comment you hear most often about Kerry Getz is that she has it all. As powerful solo artist who possesses an incredible song repertoire of strong cover material and original material, she has the ability to infuse both with a passion which can leave any audience screaming for more! With a voice that the Los Angeles Times says "hits with persuasive force or dances with nuanced delicacy", coupled with an extraordinary signature guitar style, a gift for songwriting that transcends words and music, and a warm and captivating stage presence, she is considered one of the most promising performers on the rise.
Kerry distinctly remembers when it all began. It was the year her older brother received an acoustic guitar for Christmas. She would steal it away while he was in school, spending countless hours teaching herself to play songs by some of her earliest influences: Joni Mitchell, CSN&Y, Jackson Browne, and Simon & Garfunkel.
Then finally, after years of club and concert work, she released her long awaited World in Motion debut album, Apollo. The Los Angeles Times named it one of the best local releases of the year, later revising that review to single out the record as one of the best of the decade. Kerry has gone on to record four original albums, all of which have received critical acclaim nationally.
Kerry Getz has shared the stage with numerous artists, including Neil Finn, Shawn Colvin, Richard Thompson, Nick Lowe, and John Mayer. She was named “2002 Female Artist of the Year†by the Just Plain Folks Music Awards and nominated for the same title by the Orange County Music Awards. Now, having become a bit of a local celebrity in Southern California , Kerry has been featured multiple times on the PBS station, KOCE-TV.
