About Me

Sean Kutzko is a guitarist, drummer/percussionist, bassist and singer-songwriter based in West Hartford, CT. He is the drummer for the Americana/Roots band Rail Rider and also performs solo acoustic at various "open mikes" throughout the Greater Hartford area. Bio Sean Kutzko cut his musical teeth in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois in the mid-to-late 1980's, playing guitar, drums and percussion with such diverse lineups as African highlife musician and master drummer Oscar Sulley, a ten-piece funk-rock group called The Spores, the multi-talented Brad Fish and Rick Burkhardt, the "he's-so-talented-why-isn't-he-famous-yet?" David King, and the classic rock band Identity Crisis. Kutzko has worked off and on with longtime musical friends Doug Berkman (bass) and multi-instrumentalist Dave Tcheng in several groups. Kutzko has also collaborated heavily over the years with Champaign's premier studio group, the Mouth Bandits. In the early 1990's, Kutzko focused on percussion, and during his tenure in Springfield, Illinois was with jazz veteran Virgil Rhodes and Footprints, the folk group Late Night Muse, and the house band at world-famous Jimmy's Sub Shop, the Tongue Puppets. 1995 found him back in Champaign-Urbana as the percussionist with the R & B band The Times and the folk-rock combo Our Private Jett. From 2000 to 2003, Kutzko was the drummer for the highly experimental jam-band GROOP (featuring Berkman and Tcheng), whose theatrical improvisations won a small but extremely loyal following. In 2003 & 2004, Kutzko was the drummer for space-folk master Darrin Drda and the Theory Of Everything, appearing on their first CD. He also appeared as the drummer on two songs on Paul Kotheimer's 2004 release "Home Grown Roses."Kutzko is currently working on a solo CD of all original material and is writing new material constantly. From Rock to Pop, Jazz to Folk, Steve Tibbetts to Fela Kuti, Kutzko's music is an amalgam of an entire world's musical output. Get some of it on ya and enjoy.
