About Me

This site is dedicated to the fabulous soul psychedelia orchestra Tranquil! In 2004 Tranquil was at the height of their live game bringing the crowds to their feet with their explosive, hot and highly energetic shows, that got critics reviewing their shows to gasp after superlatives, calling them "Nothing short of fantastic!" and claiming "I've never seen a rock concert like this in my life"! Tranquil drew full houses like the veterans even before having a release out, just by the word of mouth - three full houses in a row at legendary Oslo jazz house "Blå" before even a single release out says enough about the popularity of this band. They were just about to put their names on a major deal that would have rocketed them out to all of Europe, when their lead vocalist became ill, and had to retire from playing. The band had to break up, and the rest of the group was headhunted to play with names such as Bertine Zetlitz, Ralph Meyerz & the Jack Herren Band, Karen Jo Fields, Apoptygma Berzerk, Tommy Tokyo, Furia and Frode Fivel. Lead vocalist/songwriter Andreas Ihlebaek, though not able to play anymore, later produced and released "Splaxxter Watts - The Shakeout" which was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy, but has due to illness not been able to perform live since 2004.
There are several Tranquil recordings, but only the "Kentucky EP" is officially released. The small rest stock of this EP has now been made available through Cafe Superstar Recordings.
Watch their last television appearance before splitting up!
Performing "Giving me up" on NRK in 2004. Enjoy!
