About Me

Born in 1981 The Gamblin' Hobo (aka Johnny Cottonwood) is a guitarist/composer. He comes from a family of American-Italian musicians, his father being a banjo player and his mother a gospel singer. He was born and raised in Italy and at the age of thirteen he moved to Austin, Texas, where he met all of his main musical influences and rediscovered his love for American roots music. His music echoes different musical styles: country, folk, rock and shades of 50's rockabilly. The Gamblin' Hobo performed live for four years at various celebrations, weddings and private parties in the city. In the summer 1998 he performed twice a week in a restaurant inside Austin's funfair. After spending on year in northern Mexico in 1999 he went back to his native country, Italy, where he keeps on writing songs that tell simple stories of America.Today The Gamblin' Hobo performs his music in Rome, Italy, both alone and with a band named "Gamblin' Hobo and The Dirty Playboys".
