The Gamble Rogers Festival, named after the legendary, St. Augustine-based performer, showcases many nationally recognized musicians at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on the first weekend in May. Past headliners have included: Grammy award winners, Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Kate Campbell, Jack Williams, The Claire Lynch Band, Jim Hurst and Missy Raines, Valla/Turner/Williamson, The Waybacks, The Bills (formerly the Bill Hilly Band), Amy Carol Webb, Small Potatoes, Michael Smith, Gove Scrivenor, Mary Flower, Arlo Guthrie, and Del Suggs, among many more local and regional artists. GRFF was conceived to promote public enrichment and awareness of folk art traditions including acoustic music and story-telling. Proceeds from the festival go to support the Gamble Rogers Folk Library at Gamble Rogers Middle School in St. Augustine, as well as sponsorship of educational, folk and fine arts programs for students in St. Johns County.
