Firstly, come the the Clarence Corner on Tuesday Night. Woolloongabba, 8pm til 11pm. Jazz jams with my Hammond combos.
I'm also currently resident at Jade Buddha on Sundays
I've just finished a B.Mus at the Queensland Conservatorium majoring cross-studies in jazz flute and classical flute. I push around chairs and music stands for money. My life plan thus far: finish my B.Mus, and hopefully do something else after that. I'm really not sure what I'll be doing in six months, I'm just enjoying playing music with good musicians and good friends at the moment. I won't be stopping doing that anytime soon.
Once upon a time I had all these stupid grand ideas about how things were going to be, but nothing really is like that at all. There's been so many things that have worked out, many that haven't, many that aren't working out, and some that probably never will. But we're all just humbly chipping away at something.
I'm sure you really don't care how I like my steak cooked (mid-rare by the way) but ask if you care for these details. Thanks for checking out this page, feel free to make comments about the songs (soon to be uploaded). I will put some new tunes up soon hopefully. Do something today that you didn't do yesterday. As long as it's a good thing.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: ANTHONY MA HAMMOND COMBO
- plays Tuesday Nights @ the Clarence Crn Hotel
Anthony Ma - Hammond Organ
My most regular accomplices:
Lachlan Bell, Gene Stevens, Lyle Denman, Chris Vale, James Wengrow, Ben Byrne.

LACHLAN BELL TRIO Lachlan - Guitar AnthMa - Hammond Organ Chris Vale - D'ums
Influences: I have immense respect for my teachers Ken Stubbs, Gerhard Mallon, and Graeme Norris, who inspire me with not only their stunning musicality and technique, but also with the willingness and kindness that they have to share these. I am also fortunate enough to have learnt from Tina Marsden, Patrick Nolan, Dale Barlow and Andy Sugg and a number of other fine musicians and people.

John Coltrane is my greatest inspiration. His music has initiated me to search within myself for truth, peace and love. I am challenged to share these things with others. Especially through sound. I have spent a couple of years drifting and wandering, but in Coltrane's music, I have discovered a focus and direction around which I can structure my music, my sound, and my life.

Jerry Bergonzi, Hubert Laws, Dale Barlow, Larry Young, Joey Defrancesco, Big John Patton.

My brother Tim is a great musician. Also my friends, who share a passion for learning.

Other influences are plentiful, too numerous to list.

Bruce Lee is one of my influences, I try to apply his philosophies to sound. "Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend" - Bruce Lee.
Type of Label: Major
