About Me

Shan-Lyn has an ambience in a category all her own. Versatile in many genres of music, she's able to deliver what an audience wants.
Born and raised in Northern Maine, one would easily think she'd go along the lines of every Acadian folk-lorist. Well, not surprisingly, she's not only integrated this in her genres but has dared to venture where probably no Acadian has ventured before.
In her calm soft-spoken voice, one would never think that she could resonate an astonishing reverberating voice which speaks so much from the heart force. The spirit is definitely there. No doubt.
Her first public debut simply began on a stage in an elementary school, where she left behind a stunned audience. (Who would have thunk that this quiet young girl could electrify people with such a voice?).
Shortly thereafter, she pulled off the same shock when invited to a city Concert play organized by a neighboring music teacher in an effort to get her students recognized by talent scouts. With a "Bob Dylan" song, followed by a classic Russian guitar instrumental workpiece, combined with humour aimed at the audience, she stole the show.
Shan-Lyn knew her place from the beginning and with that laid-back soft style of hers, one could easily envision that she was feeling quite comfortable in that social element.
Later in time, one could see her combining the roots of her ancestry, along with folk, blues, jazz, rock, classical, Native American beats (and whatever else she could probably channel), eventually sprouting forth a very unique and strong futuristic essence.
Yes, Shan-Lyn is a futurist who enjoys crossing thresholds. Who would have thunk?
"Before I sing any of my songs, I often find myself visualizing some type of a scenery. Usually, when this happens, my whole spirit and essence moves deeply, crossing thresholds without any fear. Often, when a song from another musician touches or moves me, I usually reach out to them asking, 'What do you think of when you sing or play this song?', as I wonder if they visualize any type of scenery within their minds, as well, as all souls are connected in some way. For me, I close my eyelids and I allow my soul and mind to wander and to explore and to sing about whatever I find within my exploration. I find this very adventurous. At times, I come upon wondrous realities within my explorations that I can find no words for, so I just allow my voice to carry to the spirit of that reality in particular. It's a fascinating journey. Without my Heart Force, I don't think I'd be able to reach such realms.
I'm usually always first drawn to my roots, which are primarily Gaelic and Breton, having surfaced in the Acadian culture, and from that point, is where I depart to explore. Music is sacred to me, hence, I appreciate it in its most humble form.
Think of the olden days when one could be moved by a simple harp, lyre, fiddle or flute...and the voice was uncluttered and could move souls. This, to me, is music....that which can move souls.
As I've often mentioned, 'Love is the answer, no matter what the question'. Aye, all souls count. All.
"Once you reach 'home', you will no longer need a map or compass, for you will know your way by Heart. But first, you must recognize 'home', which only your Soul knoweth."

My Interests

Music:

Influences: It's all a state of Soul.

No matter where you travel,
never forget your roots
because if you do,
you will have forgotten....you.

And there's only one of you,
and no one else can take your place
in your very unique time and space.

If it means to kneel
and to hold the fresh soil in hand,
and to look deep
in morn' horizon, o'er the land,
to smell the fresh dew
and know the growth of life...

or if in city, amidst the noise and clamor
to take time to stop, breathe,
close your eyelids for a moment
ignore the babel towers,
to find inner peace,

then do so.....
for it's all a State of Soul.
And don't be scared, to explore.

Warm blessings,
Shan-Lyn

I must share that in my "Life's Journey", I am somewhat of a philosopher.  In my reflective state of mind, I often arrive upon 'eureka moments' (as I call them), which is basically a realization,...
