I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I was Virginia Woolf in my past life, and this time around, I'm trying to be a bit more extroverted. A vagabond describes me best: 52 countries down, and the World Tour continues. Edinburgh, Scotland is my Eden, but I was born and raised in Indiana (there's no place like HOME, and I'm forever an INDIANA GIRL). Nocturnal by nature. Sagittarius to a tee. I'm a Libertarian, a Constitutionalist, and an unlicensed Joyologist. My ancestry is half Scottish-half Irish, and my character reflects it: I'm a fighter...(And as an expatriate of Corporate America, I must confess that Freedom has never tasted sweeter.)

If I could go back in time, I'd try to "have relations" with F. Scott Fitzgerald, or to split a bottle of Scotch with Paine. My favorite sound is that of my luggage wheels rolling behind me in an airport; although, I prefer to travel by sea. I fell in love with The Ocean once...even slept with it...I was on top for nearly three years.
"Independence is my happiness, and I view things as they are, without regard to place or person; my country is the world, and my religion is to do good." -- Thomas Paine, The Rights of Man

About the Author
Julie Perry resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida—the Yachting Capital of the World—yet calls the world her home. She has visited over 50 countries through a variety of different work abroad experiences, including working her way around the United Kingdom on a temporary visa and serving as a Tour Director for one of the nation’s largest private travel clubs. And yet, Julie admits that her greatest travel adventures occurred during her time in the yachting industry: Nearly three years as a stewardess on luxury yachts took her to 40 different ports in 18 countries.
Julie misses the boating life, especially when she sees pictures of a past guest in Vanity Fair Magazine and remembers how she once tried on her Prada shoes. Currently a freelance writer/copywriter and Internet marketing specialist, Julie continues to travel extensively for both business and pleasure. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Indiana University with degrees in both English Literature and Political Science and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society.

My mission:
To encourage young adults (and even old!)--especially Americans--to become more Globally-Minded Citizens, to participate more in the world around them, and to take a journey--any journey--to discover some other place...or to explore more of who they are, outside of what their individual societies have shown them / The Superstrings Theory / Quantum Mechanics / Boating / Anything to do with life on the water / Waterskiing /
Luxury Mega Yachts / Modernist Writers / Book Publishing / Copywriting / Internet Marketing / The NEW Media Revolution / Scotland / Italy / Did I mention TRAVEL? / Words / Words on paper / Dudes with big vocabularies (and proper grammar) / Scotch / Tuscan red wines / Dance-Dance-Dance (Tango anyone?) / the teachings of Buddha / whatever it is that cats are thinking about / Joyology ("I love it, I love it, I LOVE it!") / Men in Kilts (especially you, Eddie) / Autumn in Indiana (Bloomington = Paradise) / Wayne Dyer / Stephen Colbert, and, um, Stephen Colbert / I'm fascinated by the Egyptian and the Etruscan Civilizations / International Perspectives / Sir Richard Branson (everything about him!) and The Virgin Group's latest project: Virgin Galactic

Beyond that, a little hope for our future:

Okay, so that's not likely to happen. BUT - I firmly believe THIS can and SHOULD:
RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!!

FORGET THE OBAMA GIRL!
SCREW THE GIULIANI GIRL!
I've got a crush on
RON PAUL!
He speaks the TRUTH:

I've switched my voter registration to vote for Ron Paul in my GOP primary. I have also just donated to his campaign.
Please consider doing the same.
May Reason win in '08.
"We have it in our power to begin the world over again."
~ Thomas Paine

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to give Ron Paul a hug:

I am looking for individuals interested in making money off of their travel stories in a new book project I have on the table. More specifically I need work/study/volunteer abroad stories. Serious writers only. Even if you're not interested in sharing, let's network anyway (you might be interested in buying the final product).
I also have a new online video show and podcast (launched June 18th at www.TheBoaters.tv and available on iTunes) devoted to boating and marine-related news and stories, so if you've got any scoop or footage/images to share, bring it on, friend!
Overall, I'm here to promote my book and podcast, network for business--fellow Yachties (crew or otherwise), boat owners & enthusiasts, Internet Marketers, and all RON PAUL SUPPORTERS welcomed!--and "hang out" with my current friends. I am not interested in band or porn star requests...nor do I date anyone off this thing.
(Unless, of course, you are Patrick Dempsey.)...
Or Richard Coyle... or Gerard Butler...

...or Lorne Cousin...or Dougray Scott...or John Hannah...or Tom Jones...OKAY, so I'm a sucker for a man in a kilt, especially if it's accompanied by a Scottish or Welsh accent and a sense of humor that can rival Craig Ferguson's...
(Which reminds me, I'll take Craig Ferguson, too.)

Heroes:

My biggest role models at the moment:
VIRGINIA WOOLF
AMY SEDARIS
DANICA PATRICK
The footage below is of the 2005 Indianapolis 500 when Danica became the first woman ever to lead a lap at Indy (she led 19 total)...
The video captures the lap when she took over:
MADONNA
AYN RAND
America's Founding Fathers and The U.S. Constitution ...
And now, the ONE MAN running for President who promises to defend them and the principles America was founded upon:
RON PAUL
Looks like I'm not the only one who sees Ron Paul as a hero (shocker, this one):

My other heroes:
Shakespeare's Sister (yeah, I know), Sir Richard Branson, Carl Sagan, Thomas Paine ("THESE are the times that try men's souls"), Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Aldo Vidali (Google him, read him, think), RIP Aaron Russo, Sally Potter, Wayne Huizenga, Molly Shannon, Jenny Banner and Robyn Ward, Sylvie Fortin , Brad Fallon, Jim Edwards, Alex Mandossian, and MY PA...(He makes Atticus Finch look like a deadbeat Dad.)
