About Me

.
I'm a rambling blues and folk songwriter and string plucker, I've lived in Belize, Central America for 10 years. I'm originally from Pennsylvania, USA. My songs speak for my travels and experiences, which carry me to amazing, inspiring, and eye-opening places & through them I encounter awesome, courageous, interesting, & encouraging people. Some of my songs address the system & the many problems rising through its facade of democracy and its perpetuation of Plutocracy which is the ruling of the rich over the poor.....Music and song provide me with a way to express humor in life experience as well as encouragement to others in contemplation of Life, Love, God, and so many perspectives too difficult to communicate without these tools of poetry and melody.
if you would like to see some of my aquatic adventures check out my videos, mainly whitewater kayaking footage here on MySpace & at: jeskarper.org/Video.html
Also you can support my art and the good folks at potter street records by purchasing a sweatshop free organic shirt with some great art from my album on it... Buy Try On Life T-shirts!!!

Influences: Bob Dylan and Neil Young are long time influences, more recently, Greg Brown, and David Rovics, and living in Belize gets me a bit of the Reggae vibe from some of my favorites like Midnite and Dezarie. Also Spearhead and Michael Franti's works as well as hip hop like Dead Prez and Immortal Technique have been boomin' in my speakers.
