I'm originally from Detroit, the city, not the burbs, and I lived most of my life there, though I currently live Fabulous Ferndale, which is actually a spanking diverse place filled with eccentric wonderful people and some really horrible bars. nice but not home. I tend to draw a lot of energy and artistic influence from the concrete and broken bricks and old trees that make up most of the city proper, but also from the many hopeful people trying to do as much as they can with so little. It's a beautiful strange place that makes it's own reality, good and bad and has a soul deeper than lake superior. There are some wonderful people there too. I will return soon. Like most poorer populations they are to a certain extent stuck with what they've got, lacking almost any good choices that many people take for granted. It's hard to change the world when your trying to take two or three unreliable buses to get to a crappy job that doesn't pay nearly enough. I used to do this, then I quit my day job and became a singer/songwriter/mechanic/sound guy. I live for good sound and small time stock car racing. My turn ons are making things get big in the windshield fast, going to thrift stores with my friend Julie, putting together good shows and making people sound good and being in the zone on stage. My turn offs are homophobia, racism, war, especially ones based on lies, remaining the same person I was the year before, and drugs, (weed is and herb not a drug, though a couple times a year is plenty for me thanks), people that can't drive, and people that smoke weed but won't fight to make it legal. Also friends that bale on you like you were a burning plane. But those aren't friends are they?
