..The story begins back in April 2003, when Kai Ru decided to put some effort in learning how to play the guitar. Still waiting for first remarkable improvements, he joined forces with his classmate Felix, which resulted in a still ongoing competition about playing the guitar faster, noisier, prettier and still more to come. But as competition always has its positive side aspects, the first lessons in guitar technique where learned quite fast, and also the first songs where written. Songs? Oh, at this point our 2 young heroes decided, that it is necessary to have a Bass player in company. For this reason, Martin was invited on a warm Sunday in autumn 2003. Of course, no Bass guitar was accessable, so they took the old acoustic guitar of Kai Ru’s father, and tought Martin how to play Bass on the lowest string only. For further precision, they unmounted the unnecessary 5 strings and since then Martin probably is the only Bassist in this world who began his actual Bass carreer with an acoustic 6 minus 5 -string guitar.
After writing more and more songs (most of them recorded with the Line6 Guitarport to save all the licks and riffs) it seemed that there was really a singer missing. While Kai Ru was addicted to playing live and embarassing himself (for this need he rehearsed in the schoolyear 2003/2004 with the school-rockband), Martin bought a proper Bass, but still no singer in sight. The 3-people-jam-group seemed to break up. Felix took half a year exchange break in America in late 2004, and in early 2005 Kai Ru and Martin decided to join the local Rockband "Banned Area". But after a lot of practising and only playing few shows, the singer decided to quit the band right after the first demo was recorded, because of his ongoing physical problems with his vocals cords. At this point the "Banned Area"-Project seemed to die, and because of a lack of motivation, Kai Ru, Martin and Felix agreed in early 2006 to participate as a Band for the musical "Galaxis Mundi". For this project, they choosed two additional drummers, and one of them should become a proper member of Ingenius. The Band name, which was actually only the description for Kai Ru’s and Felix’ jamsessions, was reactivated, and while working on the mentioned musical, the four guys met the extremly talented singer Franziska Jakob. The musicians where instantly fascinated by Franzi’s strong and versatile voice, and Franzi liked the riffs and working titles which where on Kai Ru’s Computer.
That’s the story folks, now we are enjoying the world cup and prepare to enter the studio in August this year, to provide fresh acoustic meat for all interested listeners out there!
