Lindsay Candra

Ever hear of a Johnny Cash loving, scarf knitting, ballet, jazz, hip-hop & tap dancing, artist, who loves telling stories about her sixteen years of life, love, & adventures, through her hauntingly unique & edgy music? If so, then that person would be Lindsay Candra.
Raised in an environment of going to Dead concerts and dancing backstage, live performance and the mystical bond between artist & audience permeated Lindsay’s very being from a young age. Inspired to play the mandolin after hearing Michelle Shocked sing “Blackberry Blossom”, Lindsay started taking lessons at age 10, and soon was enraptured by the magical sounds emanating from stringed instruments. While sitting in her brightly colored room growing up in Monterey, California, Lindsay started writing her own music and learned how to play, and more importantly, how to listen. Drawing from a vast array of influences, soon Lindsay started performing in and around the Monterey area, covering songs that ranged from Simon & Garfunkle to The Postal Service, as well as a number of original songs.
In June 2006 on her 15th birthday, Lindsay was given an opportunity to record an EP at Gadgetbox Studio in Santa Cruz. There she met and established an immediate rapport with Producer Andy Zenczak, who helped fulfill her vision for her studio debut. Shortly thereafter, a 5-song EP entitled “The Others” was completed, which showcases Lindsay’s beautiful and hypnotic vocals, as well as her many talents at 6- and 12- string acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and as well, the first instrument she learned to play, the mandolin. In addition, Lindsay wrote & arranged each the cello parts that appear on the disc, and had a hand in guiding the overall musical and artistic direction and layout as well.
