Over the past 10 years Wes Mattheu has played with many musicians with his project The New Way Down. He has finally found his family of pickers and crooners. They are paving the road between old and new by using mandolin, fiddle, the upright bass, and cello; some dating back to 1910. These Philadelphians are forced to explain, “Yes we do live in the city and not in the hills of Kentuckyâ€. Playing everything from art openings to all night bar room honky-tonks, when the hammer swings down make sure you’re front row for the explosion.
