This N.Y. born and raised classically trained violinist, turned "bombshell electric violinist" plays various genres of music, from Latin, Metal, Blues, Gypsy, Hot Swing, Rock, Fusion, Klezmer, R&B, Classical to World Beat. Randi began her studies in N.Y. with Julliard Professor, Sylvan Schulman. He always told her parents that she would be "a real fiddler." Randi began to experiment with different genres when she was a little girl. She would "borrow" her brother's and parent's albums and jam along with Joe Venutti, Stephane Grappelli, Stuff Smith, Papa John Creach, Led Zepplin, King Crimson, Dixie Dreggs, UK, Pink Floyd, Astor Piazzolla, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Beck, Jean Luc Ponty, Stanley Clarke, Stanley Jordan and various other artists. She always knew that the violin was a "really cool" instrument that could work with any type of music. Randi has played with several bands. Her most recent grouping is called "Blue Fire". Blue Fire is an exciting 5 piece eclectic rock, blues, etc. ensemble comprised of guitar (Nick Cucunato), bass (Rich Velasques), drums (Jeff Lafferty), keyboard (Paul Pettitt) and violin (Randi Fishenfeld). Randi has toured with Clarence Clemons and has played and/or recorded with Bruce Springsteen, BB King, Nestor Torres, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Gerry Brown, Air Supply, Journey, Kansas, America, Andy Aledort, Foghat, Dave Valentine and Divine Empire._____________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _________________________________"Kansas came on to a steller rendition of their platinum hit Point of Know Return, and proceeded through a plethora of hits including Carry on Wayward Son, and an incredible version of Dust in the Wind with the aforementioned Ms. Fishenfeld's dynamic violin solo bringing many in the crowd to their feet in earnest appreciation." Her style and passion on the stage had the crowd buzzing and several people were asking me what I knew about her. Since our mission at the newsletter is to educate as well as entertain, I was able to come up with some information about this talented and entertaining performer, Randi Fishenfeld. Randi, who is classically trained in the violin, had a legal practice in Buffalo for six years, specializing in bankruptcy cases (how's that for a great angle for an article?) Tired of the constraints of the legal system, she left Buffalo for sunny Florida, and a career with her beloved violin. She plays with the Blue Fire Band in South Florida, and caught a "big" break when tapped for special performances with Clarence Clemons' band, a professional relationship that has lasted about three years. In fact, Bruce Springsteen was considering her for a spot on the last E Street Band tour and supporters feel that she will find her own spot on the national stage in due time. Her playing is described as both passionate and energetic, ranging from high-energy rock to almost erotic sensitivity. Fans who are fortunate enough to see the Clarence Clemons Band perform may be seeing the first lights of a future star on the rise._______________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ _______________________RANDI IS NOW PLAYING WITH A NEW GROUP IN ADDITION TO BLUE FIRE.
