About Me
Black Sifichi has grown over the years to become one of the pillars of Spoken Word in western Europe today. Noticed for the quality of his fabulous French accent (he gargles with vinegar which he makes himself at home), his political stance (radical left foot) and his sense of black humour (also available in grey)...
He has been compared to Tom Waits, Ken Nordine, James Mason and Saul Williams by people who have never actually met these fine artists in order to make an accurate comparison, the damage has been done. Earlier this year Sifichi worked with techno purveyors The Black Dog, releasing 2 psychedelic albums on Hydrogen Dukebox records: "Unsavoury Products" a homage to William S. Burroughs and "Genetically Modified" the club remixes, which are dedicated to an Ecstasy Rehabilitation Centre in Glasgow. Both LPs have received critical acclaim.
Black has also added vocals to the work of : Burnt Friedman, Negative Stencil, UHT, Ezekiel, BXT, Wide Open Cage, Interlope, aka_bondage, Gnawa Joum Experience...
He reads poetry, bicycles daily, enjoys sex with drugs at the weekend.
Norscq ... one of the finest electronic artists in France today was founder of 'The Grief '.
A dark, industrial rock group that were famous for being drunk weeks before they played. 'Johnie Norsk' used to be a heroin addict and went to NYC to shoot up with Lou Reed in the early 70's. "The darkness of the Grief took me down to a level I couldn't imagine...".
Since his return from detox in Holland, Norscq has put his full attention to electronic music, computers, plug-ins and Absinthe. This combination recently took him to Cambodia where he made a track for Meat Beat Manifesto's new remix album of 'Storm The Studio' which features other tracks by the likes of Antipop Consortium, Scanner or Eight Frozen Modules.
Last month Norscq told a reporter at Hola magazine, "Life is better for me since I got away from the underground, I feel safer", while he was mixing the new album by 'Colder' for Output records during a vacation in Ibiza. He also seemed happier than in the 70's. "The great thing about Ibiza in 2003 is the Boom Boom music all day long. I just immerse myself in the disco & house beats! It's a truly positive stimulus for my creativity! And now Super Stoned is happening, I feel like a new man."
Black met Norscq in 1970 during the filming of Dennis Hopper's "The Last Movie" in Peru where they were trying to develop an import / export business with local farmers. Years later, back in Paris, in the mid nineties, Norscq recorded & produced the album "Tick" with Negative Stencil. An album which is still turning up in radio play lists and feminist sex shops today.
in 2002, when Sifichi provided his Orson Wells style mix for Norscq's Lavatron.X album of remixes, they realised that the World was coming to an end faster than anyone believed and that nothing could really be done to stop it - so they decided to start a new project while there is still air to breath - 'Super Stoned'.
"OH" includes 'Dear Superman' and 'Dear Superfan' the first two tracks recorded for a series of superb maxi's on Jarring Effects with an album scheduled for next spring when the flowers come out. As Sifichi told the newspaper Le Figaro, "The end is near, you might as well go out and buy Super Stoned's music before it's too late. Unless you have plans to go to another universe of course - this music was designed for being listened to on the Earth."
