About Me
DJ Lyve is in a category like no other. He possesses’ many skills, talents, and relationships that aid him in his quest to master life, business, and his love for the “Art of DJingâ€. The first time DJ Lyve touched a turntable, at the age of 10, he knew there was a connection. Since then, DJ Lyve has traveled all over the world, while spinning at clubs and stadiums on three European tours and 2 U.S tours. His resume also includes work in over 14 countries and 100 cities. He has also done Spring Break 2004 in Cancun, Mexico and Labor Day 2005 in Miami. DJ Lyve has had the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from personally working with and learning from DJ Doctor Dre (Yo MTV Raps), Parish Smith (EPMD), Keith Shocklee (Public Enemy), DJ Dirty Harry (Mix CD Blend King), and DJ Honda (Turntablist/Producer). He has spun alongside great DJ’s such as FunkMasterFlex, DJ Camillo, DJ Jazzy Joyce, Big Kapp, DJ Evil Dee, DJ Dirty Harry, DJ Doctor Dre, and DJ Honda. DJ Lyve’s first step into the industry was joining a record pool run by DJ Doctor Dre. From this he gained a lot of wisdom on music and on how important DJ’s were to the music industry. Eventually, Doctor Dre was impressed with his hustle and not only asked him to run the record pool, but asked him to come on the road & spin with him. DJ Lyve would continue DJing and assist in producing the ‘Jump Off,†a syndicated radio show with Ed Lover and Doctor Dre which was produced by Keith Shocklee and broadcasted in over 40 cities around the world. He would also assist Doctor Dre in a live nighttime radio show that was broadcasted through Clear Channel’s Power 105.1fm in New York. DJ Lyve attributes much of his learning of the record business to Parish Smith. Parish, being from the same hometown of Brentwood, Long Island, in NY, one day bumped into Lyve, where Lyve then began to play a blend cd of his to get his opinion. Seven months later, Parish contacted him with a proposal to be his DJ for the new Hit Squad and record label. DJ Lyve saw this as an opportunity to DJ, hype the crowd, and personally assist Parish. He then worked his way up to Vice President of the record company, dealing with every aspect of the company. This is where he learned how to create, promote, advertise, market, and distribute a record. DJ Lyve also learned about royalties, publishing, contracts, and managing artists. He was able to use and apply everything he learned into releasing mix cd’s of his own and working with others on collaboration mix cd’s. He has also done intros for artists Pitbull and Chamillionaire mix cd’s. To add another valuable piece to what DJ Lyve has learned, he would return to finish what he started at St. John’s University, in Queens, NY where he would earn his Bachelor of Science in Communications. Today DJ Lyve is still spinning in clubs, creating mix cd’s, and working on his television career. With all of his accomplishments thus far in his career, DJ Lyve still looks forward to taking on new endeavors and building his future within the entertainment industry.
