jim kent aka "variant" is a british born tech house dj and producer. He has been rocking clubs and bars across the uk for 15years now.His musical tastes have varied over the years starting back in 1992 playing hardcore and jungle techno at raves until, in 1994 he switched to house. He hasnt looked back since then and over the years has gone through many genres of house, playing trance, progressive house, tech house, breaks,electro,techno, and minimal. Since 2000 he has been championing the dirtier darker sides of prog, tech house, breaks, and minimal techno. His years of experience have given him an unrivalled nack of working a crowd and once he locks you into the dirty hypnotic groove theres no escaping until the end of his set. A consumate perfectionist he still mixes from vinyl and says he will till the very death of vinyl. He has also been producing his own tracks since late 2004 under the names Variant, and Mein room on his own label Amalgam8 records. his tracks have been played all across the uk, as well as chicago, miami, spain, belgium,canada, australia, columbia, amsterdam, and norway. Just relocated to the east coast of canada, Variant is looking to start where he left off in the uk and bring his unique style of deejaying and production to the canadian masses...
