The Orange Stilettos

The Orange Stilettos was born in 2006 when members, Liezel Fourie and Marise Landman broke away from their previous band to explore a more experimental style in music. They avoid being placed in a specific genre, trying rather to fuse different styles into a new whole. "We don’t really classify our sound as purely jazz, blues, cabaret or anything for that matter. Most people who are familiar with those styles will argue our being a true representation. The songs are more like Frankenstein creations, made from bits and pieces of all the genres we listen to."In 2006 the band formed part of De Plate Kompanjie's Die Eerste Avontoer. This tour stretched for two weeks from December to January and included well known South African bands like Zinkplaat, Foto na Dans and Die Helde. In 2007 the band was signed under the independant record label, De Plate Kompanjie and in the end of 2007 they were part of the even bigger Tweede Avontoer. Here MK music channel and DPK worked together to bing the west and east coast big names like Melktert Kommisie, Van Coke Kartel, Straatligkinders, ef-el and of course Zinkplaat and Die HeldeIn 2008 the band released their debut Album, Penelope's Rising and also launched their first music video, Music Box.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
