“My goals are to bring Hip Hop to heights it’s never been before and to revive the glory days when people actually paid "GOOD" money for "GREAT" music.â€Much can be said about the current state of hip-hop; as there has been criticism surrounding the music’s artistic integrity. Every once in awhile, there comes an artist that awakens possibility; an artist with true talent that makes struggle and persistence look effortless. So just who is Element? He is a man that has bottled up all his experiences and channeled them into his music. He is an artist not afraid to address certain issues; instead choosing to embrace them through his artistic expression.
Element, who was born Wayne Adams in New Orleans, soon relocated to Houston, where he was introduced to the world of hip-hop; by his close friend K. Richardson. Soon, he would develop a deep love and appreciation for hip-hop music. Pursuing his hip-hop career wasn’t always easy. Despite being denied tracks from some of Houston’s producers, he didn’t let that stop him from pursuing his dream; which is a true testament to his persistence. Soon, he would team up with singer/songwriter/producer, Ki the Artist, who recognized his gift and started to craft songs tailored to his style of animated and clever wordplay.
The impending release of his debut album, “The iLLest Show on Earth,†marks a return to hip-hop’s origins when lyrical and artistic integrity reigned supreme. On “The iLLest Show on Earth,†Element collaborates with other emerging talent; including singer, songwriter and producer, Ki the Artist, who contributed her production, songwriting and vocal skills to the album. The album also features production and lyrics by DJ Emergency and collaborations with rappers Young Rego and King. The album is a lyrical palette touching upon a diverse set of issues from the state of hip-hop in America, to poverty, drug use, un-lyrical emcees, sex, money, urban life, depression, politics, failed relationships, overcoming setbacks, and dealing with obstacles in the music industry. Production wise, the album is a hot bed of multiple types of sounds from war drums to deep bass lines, and is unlike any thing you’ve ever heard played on your local radio station.
With the release of his album, the 23-year-old lyricist is ready to prove that true talent can still shine in the rap game and that hip-hop is far from being dead. “My goals are to bring Hip Hop to heights it’s never been before and to revive the glory days when people actually paid "GOOD" money for "GREAT" music.â€
Though his musical influences are evident in his music, he manages to incorporate his own voice and uniqueness to his songs. While his music is filled with clever wordplay, memorable hooks and colorful animated lyrics which proves to be his stock in trade, it’s evident that Element brings something new and refreshing to the rap game.
What’s even more impressive about Element is the fact that he is more than an emcee or a wordsmith but that he challenges himself. He has also been the executive director of four albums and has been featured on Ki the Artist’s debut album, “Are U Readyâ€, on the songs “Searching and If U Want 2.†He has also been featured on the song, “Rising 2 Tha Top†from DJ Emergency’s album, “State of Emergency.†It’s safe to say that Element’s music is sure to strike a chord with hip-hop loyalists. With all that he is working on, Element is looking to the future and to
accomplishing more and making his mark in music. “Trust me, I will be mentioned amongst the greats,†says the rapper...
