Collecting books, Buddhas, retro art, and eye candy of the male persuasion. I'm also fascinated by the concept of burlesque, and seriously think I have the soul of a vaudevillian. I play the Mountain Dulcimer, which is eternally nerdy... I also dabble in Spiritualism, feminism, sleeping, editing, and singing karaoke.
I ain't gonna lie. I'd love to meet Javier Bardem... so I could lick his entire body... after he showered, of course. Um, on here? Well, some like-minded souls SHOULD suffice. Some other random people (living or dead) I'd like to meet: Betty White, Doris Day, Adrian Brody, Paramahansa Yogananda, Lucy Maud Montgomery Jason Segel, Frances Hodgson Burnett, and perhaps your mom.
I love cheesy love songs from the 70s and 80s... 80s hair band music... TONS of classic rock, and have been known to get funky... hahaha... rockin' out with my air dobro while listening to bluegrass in my car.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is my all-time favorite movie from my childhood. I remember the second brother Benjamin awakening the first stirrings of lust for an actor in a movie... at the age of seven. haha... I also love The Color Purple; Sixteen Candles; Dirty Dancing (when I was in college, I changed the words to a certain NOTORIOUS Mickey and Sylvia song into my answering machine message); the Lord of the Rings movies; Gladiator; and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. I recently saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to seeing Baby Mama this weekend.
Family Guy is my kryptonite. I've also been known to watch a bit of TLC's What Not To Wear and Chelsea Lately. AND... You best NOT be calling me from 10-11 am during the week, because I WILL be watching Maury Povich (but only if they are covering paternity cases). :P
I just finished reading "Leaving Mother Lake: A Girlhood at the End of the World" by Yang Erche Namu... a memoir about about a singer who grew up on the Chinese-Tibetan border in Moso country, which is called "the Country of the Daughters". Moso country was, at one time, a utopian-like, matrilineal society nearly devoid of the institution of marriage... definitely a fascinating read. After Googling this woman, it turns out that she's the Kimora Lee Simmons of China: an eternally-self-promoting-to-the-point-of-excess, heinous rat-biotch... She's written EIGHT autobiographies. What the hell?
Dolly Parton, Tina Fey, Paramahansa Yogananda, and Madeleine L'Engle.
