Diatoms are a major group of eukaryotic algae and are one of the most common types of phytoplankton. They are asexual and derive their name from the Greek meaning two, or “cut in half” because they divide symmetrically. As they reproduce they also decay, loosing one micron with each new generation. Their interior structure is made of a unique silicate wall similar to glass. Eventually these algae reach their micro-limit and die, sinking to the bottom where they are sometimes collected by humans and used as a natural insecticide, road-paint additives or filtration for swimming pools (they are non-toxic to larger animals).Using the diatom as a conceptual communicative-vehicle for the body of the addict, the appendages of the addict would make them distinctly individual. The size, placement and decoration of these appendages would influence the larger identity of the addict, and affect the course and speed in which the addict would live his or her life. Within these drunken experiments I am the addict and these are my appendages.The only evidence I can write about is writing like this.
