Gouda is fully loaded with musical talents, so Going Underground has decided to dedicate a full hour each month to them. In coöperation with recording Studio Plug Unit in nearby Reeuwijk, every last Friday of the month the program is filled with musicians from local and regional soil, somehow connected with Plug Unit. Wether theyre rehearsing there, are volunteers, or just have made recordings in the studio. Main part in these shows are either sessions recorded especially for the program, or a Sneak Preview of very recent recordings. This show, called Doorgeplugd(Plugged Through!) is aiing every last friday of the month between 19-20 H (CET)
Biography:
Going Underground started off as punk-items the presenter made from may 1997 under the name ‘Leo’s Herriehoekje’ during the ‘legendary’ youngsters program ‘Jump!’. When this show ceased to exist, taking over the first, now available hour, was a logical next step.
Friday April 2nd 1999 the first show was aired, both presented and engineered by Leo. Over the years the original format (Alternative and Punk) widened and things like self-produced live-recordings, (Live-)sessions, acoustic live performances and interviews were added.
Besides much attention for the local scene, with sessions, demo’s and incidental live-performances in the studio, you can regularly hear new releases and regularly interviews with better knowns acts like 'Supergrass', ‘Einstürzende Neubauten’, ‘A Silver Mt Zion’, 'Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra', 'Woven Hand' en 'The Thermals'. But also live-recordings from internationally well-known bands like Solex, Athena, The Ex and I Against I. Announcements will be put on the Dutch page of the site, as is the latest playlist.
The cooperation with Plug Unitstudios, Doorgeplugd puts an act from the fertile local musical grounds into the spotlight every month, since September 2000.
Something about the presenter:
Leo Hoek van Dijke (1969) got in touch with lesser apreciated music like Punk, HC and New Wave through the Cure in 1985, resulting in crashing into the ‘World of Punk’ from 1987 .. short musical escapades in several short-lived bands, his spikey hair disappeared somewhere in 1995 and borders broadened for other musical styles like Britpop, Ska, Noise, etc. He currently enjoys things like Supergrass, Ex, Crass, Jammah Tammah, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, Feverdream, Freejazz, Avant-garde, Sonic Youth, Sixteen Horsepower and lots of other things. He ‘produces’ demo’s and sessions for local bands, managed local heroes ‘Lame Art’ for a while and wrote reviews for ‘Opscene’ magazine, columns for the newsletter of local club ‘de Gonz’. He’s currently active as ‘Dutch editor’ for the official Supergrass and Woven Hand fansites and reviews for ‘ live-XS ’ magazine and occasionally produces items for regional radio-station 'RTV West'.
