Everything in our world exists in pairs, the two harmonising each other, making life whole.
Very much alike Xiaoxuan, when she first combined her left and right.
Born with a musician of a mother, Xiaoxuan learned her first instrument at the age of 10. Very much inspired by the deep, mahogany sounds of a piano, she took it into her own hands to step into the dream of music itself. At first, like any child, playing the piano seemed like a daily task without much meaning or devotion.
Perhaps it was her background of the loss of her father when she needed him most - a story that needs communication, neither here nor there - Xiaoxuan matured faster than most teenagers, and she very soon became aware of feelings inside her heart that never seemed to matter before, and before she could control them, she kept them all inside, each potentially waiting to spur out when their owner finds the appropriate way of setting them free.
It was then she discovered music no more a daily to-do, but rather a way of excercising her soul. She played when she was angry, when sad, happy, excited, whenever it suited the moment. It transformed from a task to an addiction- a good one.
This was her left.
Then she discovered something else, slowing releasing in her. Something she inherited from her mother- a voice.
Not any voice- she posessed a soft, yet tender; smooth yet strong; and silky yet subtle voice. Much alike a first kiss.
At first her talent was rarely recognised, only until the school drama production 'Romeo and Juliet' required a vocal solo on Eva Cassidy's 'Songbird'. Original choice of vocalist was unavailable, and that's when the school music teacher Mrs Dobson('She has the voice of that in a fairytale'- Xiao) selected Xiaoxuan.
Her singing in that performance stunned many who never or rarely heard Xiaoxuan sing on stage. With the curtains drawn, and the spot light on, Xiaoxuan was on her way.
Her right
Now Xiaoxuan knows what she can do, and many times already she has put her left and right together, singing and playing in performances, competitions.
IIn March 2006, she won the Rotary final of the Young Musician of the year competition in Chippenham.
Against many extremely talented and well respected young musicians, Xiaoxuan caught the judges eye with her natural ability to capture the audience's attention.
'I noticed an immediate hush fell over the audience as soon as she started singing...' - Nicholas Keyworth
Xiaoxuan is now continually improving and experimenting with different types of music, and instruments. She has joined rock band 'Strange Obsession' and on her way of making her first albumn- 'She's Growing up'
