i'm a girl, but i'm one of the guys. i'll ask "how are you?" and i'll actually wait for the answer. i like to climb trees. i'm quiet, well mostly. the top half inch of my right middle finger was slammed off in a steel shipping door. yes, SLAMMED off, by the UPS guy. no, i didn't cry. no, i never told him. i'm sassy. my gram's told me that my whole life. i'm a mom. i'm not very good at taking compliments. i give good hugs. i like to roller skate. i've always liked roller skating, but now i like to skate really fast. i'm a big sister. that's not true. they are all taller than me. i'm an older sister to three boys. i appreciate my friends and do my best to support their bands, businesses and art. i enjoy getting tattood. i'm short. i say "please" and "thank you". i like to drive. i'm sarcastic. i'm cursed with the cute. i like the sound of a cello. i'm patient. i like trains. i love trains. i reeeallly, reeeallly love trains. if you ask someone who knows me what i'm like, they'll say "she's really nice." i like being nice. most people aren't.
i helped form the Detroit Derby Girls in 2005. at different times, i've been part of their governing body as Director of PR, Director of Events and Director of Finances. we were Michigan's first all-female, skater owned and operated, Flat Track Roller Derby League. We were one of the first 50 leagues in the World and a co-founder of the WFTDA, the Women's Flat Track Derby Association.
as a skater, i was a Jammer, and occasional Blocker, for the
Motown Hit Squad
and later the Devil's Night Dames .
i retired from skating at the end of the 2006 derby season and joined the 'darkside' as a member of the Detroit Derby Girls Stat Army .
you read correctly, this pirate has joined the Army...
if you haven't yet checked out what the Detroit Derby Girls have brought to this fine city, you are truly missing something historic.
wonder how it's played?
