The Pantomimes

About Me

On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded.Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it: TOP GUN. You should create your own MySpace Layouts like me by using nUCLEArcENTURy .COM's MySpace Profile Editor !

Band Members: "The Pantomimes formed in Shrewsbury in the autumn of 2006 after previous band The Narwhals disbanded. Joe Allan and Richard Hooper already played lead guitar and bass, respectively; James Hickson shifted from drums to vocals and guitar. Joe’s guitar playing is often folksy, sometimes rocky, but always melodic and sparky. Hooper’s bass is uncomplicated, and serves the songs well. Your average Pantomimes song will convey a tone of wistfulness: consider the world-weary aura of Ulysses, or the nostalgic lilt of Man of Letters. At their best though, The Pantomimes prove themselves to be a band of real potential. The almost playful ferocity of Fictional Girl and Forget Me Not Annie, the full-on rock I Should’ve Stayed, or the Dylan-esque Pantomime Dream 13. Perhaps the two greatest testaments to the band’s ability to craft a song of real class are Tatty’s Song and Hangover Square. The latter is an intimate affair, all newspapers in the breeze and cautious optimism delivered with the cheer of a man whose fate is long since sealed. Tatty’s Song is an ephemeral, tides and times lament that summarises the whole of the universal in a simple throwaway line. “Everybody says these things,” James breathes, “but no one ever knows.” Isn’t that just the truth?"Professor David Sugarman 2009
