I am the original guitarist and co song writer with the UK Punk Rock band DEMOB who helped arrange & produce all of the songs 1978 - 2007. The band was formed in 1978 by Johnny Melfah and me in the area we lived, called Coney Hill, Gloucester, UK.-----------------------------
In 1981 Demob released the classic punk rock 45 rpm singles "Anti Police" and "No Room For You" - Round Ear Records. ( The original band members were: Mark Smith - Vocal, Terry Elcock - Guitar & vocal, Paul Price & Barry Phillips -Bass and Johnny Ringo Melfah - Drums & vocal ).--------------------------------------------------""If you have a look on the 1st two 45 rpm single covers you will notice there is not one reference to the people who are claiming to be DEMOB now"" --------------------------------------------The Punk & Disorderly 33 rpm compilation album released in the early eighties included The Addicts, Vice Squad, Peter and The Test Tube Babies and Demob etc. This album established Demob internationally with the "No Room For You" inclusion.--------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------A record company in Los Angeles (GTA thank you Brian) contacted me in 2002 so I contacted some old friends and reformed the band to enable people who enjoyed the DEMOB sound, but missed it the 1st time round to experience the original music of the band.-------------------------Between 2002 - 2004 DEMOB recorded 3 CD albums "Better Late Than Never" - Amber Records "Contractual Obligations" - Grand Theft Audio "If It Ain..t Punk It Don’t Rock - Amber Records. There is also an official music DVD release "Live in Japan" - Sanction Release.----------------------------------In 2007 DEMOB released a 1st vinyl 33rpm album called "Crime Through Time" - Punk Records. This is a limited addition pressing on gold vinyl, so if you like collecting old school punk memorabilia get a copy.-----------------------------------------------------In
2007 a tribute band to Demob was formed by Andy K in apreciation to the past members who had conributed to writing all the songs.-----------------------------------This site is here for people who understands what Punk Rock really means and appreciates the original ethics of what DEMOB stood for. The Demob ethics at that time were for people irrespective of race, colour or creed to get together at weekends, get pissed, have a laugh and annoy the police along the way -------------------------------------------------------
Don’t be taken in by the “Tribute Actâ€, enjoy the original DEMOB music and read about where the history came from. There are books to read that will say it all.----------------------------------Burning Britain The History Of UK Punk 1980 – 1984 by Ian Glasper & Punk Rock An Oral History by John Robb (Goldblade)
