Adlin and Appleford Band

About Me

Rich Adlin & Mark Appleford's songs are a mix of roots and rock, both energetic and contemplative. Roots music is woven into catchy songs with clever lyrics. The result is music that is new and fresh- but soaked in tradition. From the Blue Ridge to Dixie and the Delta, to Beale St. to Bourbon St. Beer & whiskey chaser vocals and a gritty brew of acoustic and electric music are stirred into songs that each have their own flavor.Rich Adlin plays lead acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, and fiddle. Mark Appleford is the lead vocalist, harmonica player, and rhythm guitarist. Often, Adlin's fingerpicking and slide guitar blends with Appleford's harmonica, guitar & voice- transforming the time-honored folk/blues tradition into their own concoction. Backed by a variety of instruments from banjo & brass to pedal steel & piano, each song is distinctive.Like their music, their lives have taken twists and turns. Their collaboration started in Knoxville in 2001, and continues with Rich still in Knoxville and Mark in Asheville, North Carolina (where he plays in a band known as "LOCOMOTIVE PIE", and also plays solo shows). Adlin and Appleford's history and music are "All Over The Place", the title of their recently released CD. It has been receiving local and national airplay, as well as excellent reviews. One of the tunes, "Three Rivers Rambler," was a semifinalist in Nashville's 2006 International Songwriting Competition. Their first CD, "Jaundice Bitters", received very complimentary reviews and was played on several radio stations (locally and nationally). As Dirty Linen magazine described it, Jaundice Bitters "leaves us wanting more." "All Over The Place" is the response--and it is receiving airplay and praise regionally and nationally as well...For booking information, please contact The Adlin & Appleford Band through this myspace page, or you can e-mail Mark Appleford at: [email protected] (note the underscore between the first and last name).CD's available at www.cdbaby.com/aappleford and www.cdbaby.com/aappleford2
