Hailing from the streets of the Bronx, This is Dead Real! Consisting of members Joe Ruck and Knoxx. These Two ambitious, street wise and immensely talented men are here to stake their claim in the Rap Game and strive to become the greatest, most dynamic duo in Rap music history.
Individually they can hold their own against anyone, anywhere, but once they form as one, it is near impossible to find a more cohesive, creative and versatile pair. Their sound emanates from their own lives and experiences, at times powerful and hard hitting, at other times grounded and thought provoking, yet still have the ability to start a party and have the crowd jumping at any given moment...... in English or in Spanish!!
Dead Real started as a dream that members Joe Ruck and Knoxx have wanted to make reality since childhood, which led to hitting the underground hard for years.
Knoxx’s love for all music started as a big kid who was very musically inclined, being able to play the guitar and the piano, early on as a kid he attempted to start a Rock group with a few High school friends, as the lead singer naming themselves Dionysus, they were pretty good and played a few local venues to start a buzz, but unfortunately due to many disagreements amongst themselves, he decided to quit the band and Rock music altogether and pursue his other love, Rap. Becoming very adept and showing incredible wordplay from early on, he had a knack for the game, being considered a natural by many who heard him in the streets. Considering such great musicians of varying music genres such as The Doors, Nirvana, Lord Finesse and even the late great Big Pun as influences, Knoxx has the pedigree and talent to succeed in the Rap industry.
Joe Ruck’s beginnings started in High school, where his love for Hip Hop music and Rap translated in immersing himself with the sounds of Rakim, the Notorious B.I.G, Kool G Rap and other Rap greats and being determined to some day consider them as peers. Although facing many obstacles and challenges throughout his life including avoiding prison, having a child at a young age and all that entails, Ruck never lost the hunger or focus he had for something he knew he can succeed greatly in. Early on Ruck hardened his skills participating in freestyle and battle sessions with his friends during Rap ciphers, in which any and all comers faced each other at school yards, at the block or at the occasional party or two. Ruck knew early on that with hard work, determination and a little luck his dream can be achievable...and will be ACHIEVABLE!!
Although Ruck and Knoxx practicaly were raised together they never imagined they shared a common goal. When they were 18 and 19 years of age respectively on a night of partying with friends, they were both surprised at each others improved abilities, at first all of the participant’s were taking turns until in the end Ruck and Knoxx were the last ones standing, impressed with each other’s tenacity, they decided to name this brotherly union and as the saying goes "That was all she wrote" and Dead Real was born.
The Real's whole purpose is to bring back TRUE RAP music, the kind of music that had many fans running to the radio, scrambling for a tape to dub the hottest hit, the kind of music that challenged the listener to pay attention to the creative wordplay that presented the artist as a true cratftsman, the kind of music that will awaken this stagnant genre of music and save it from the sound same, cookie cutter, children's book wording of some of today's artists representing the industry.
In Regards to Dead Real's electric and potent sound, at one listen to songs such as "Born Raw" and "Power Moves", it clearly shows this duo's energy, power and presence on tracks that are clearly aimed for the head boppin' aficionados. When you proceed to listen to songs such as "Looky Here" and "'Ta Heavy", "The Real" also shows their incredible range and adeptness to the different sounds, styles and even cultures incorporated by Rap music's influence across the world. And finally the song "Unconscious" is a track that displays this duo's ability to craft engaging and thought provoking works, while showing listeners that although their styles differ, they compliment each other perfectly.
It is most certain that these men grasp their listeners attention with their lyrical prowess, energy and street swagger. The world has been waiting....no..demanding for artists like Dead Real. In a time when many have been outspoken about Rap music's current sorry state, it is time for "The Real". And "The Real" is coming to conquer a diluted, clone spawning industry in need of some serious shock therapy, all beware "The Real" is Here.
