About Me
Crazy Tomes and Billy Joe Daniel are the dynamic duo behind "Burning Wagon". Both have been playing professionally ever since they were kids; in 2001, they were brought together by a bomb threat evacuation in High School. They met with guitars in hand and have been playing together across the country every since. In 2005, they formed Burning Wagon with Blues singer-songwriter Riyen Roots. The band quickly became a strong force in the Virginia music scene by keeping the Blues alive, while blending it with Rockabilly, Funk, Rock, Reggae, Soul and Hip-Hop."I think people like to come to our shows because we have a good time, they can too. Anyone can get up and dance like nobody's watching!!"- says Billy Joe Daniel. This indeed was proved true when just a year later, the band was voted as the best Blues/Jam band in Virginia by Portfolio magazine. Later that year, Crazy Tomes and Billy Joe moved the band to Hollywood, where they are probably playing somewhere RIGHT NOW!! The new Burning Wagon lineup includes Bill Spoke on the drums and a legendary Funk master and former member of the Chamber Brothers, DJ Milner, on bass guitar. In 2008, the band welcomed the legendary Afro-Rock pioneer, Remi Kabaka (who has been playing with The Rolling Stones for the last 40 years, and is also known for his work with Traffic, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix and others). Tragically, on 25th of February, 2009, DJ Milner passed away from a heart attack. Since then, Burning Wagon has been playing with different bass players, for the most part either with Michael B. Holden (who used to play with Buddy Miles Sly Stone and many others) and Wadada (from Lauryn Hill's band). In addition to Burning Wagon, Crazy Tomes (who's stage name was given to him by Little Richard, after he joined the Rock'n'Roll legend on stage during a concert) has also recorded, worked and performed live with many other artists, ranging from Blues pioneers like David "Honeyboy" Edwards and Koko Taylor, to members of legendary bands such as Molly Hatchet, Temptations, Rush, The Gap Band, Ambrosia, as well as Latin pop star, Shalim. In January, 2007, Crazy Tomes and Billy Joe made a special appearance with Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols) at the Whiskey A-Go-Go for the "Battle of the Bands" show.Currently, the band plays in venues such as B.B. King's Blues Club, the Pig and Whistle, The Roxy, as well as Crash Mansion.GET READY! IT'S TIME FOR A MUSICAL REVOLUTION!!!Takin' Care of Business
