Life is good! :-)

About Me

I grew up in Central California, near Santa Barbara. My father is a musician, my mother an artist, and my brother is an amazing musician and fairly accomplished artist as well. It's no surprise that I love art and music. I love anything creative... I'm a Jill-of-all-trades, dabbling in painting (mostly watercolor, but I'd like to learn oils and acyrlic), acting (I've done some stage acting but, when it comes to film, I'd prefer to be behind-the-scenes), singing (not professionally, but my best friend and I've been kicking around the idea of forming a band so, who knows?), dancing (I really wanna learn to swing!), photography (I've taken a few b&w classes and my plan for a dream home includes a dark room), writing (I don't think I have the patience for a novel or screen play, but I write press releases at work, and occaisionally put down the lyrics that run through my head), jewelry (mostly with beads and wires, but I'd love to learn how to make molds now that I know some casters in the Jewelry District), knitting/crochet (a few friends got handmade scarfs last xmas, maybe I'll tackle sweaters this year?)... basically, if it's creative or artistic in any way, I've either tried it or want to. I'm trying to become a costume designer for film/tv and, if that happens, I'd eventually like to expand within the art department and learn hair, makeup, and special effects as well... although I'm not sure how to swing that within union regulations...? I'm currently working for a jewelry designer: I do her marketing; string pearls and hand-wire; deal with the casters and stone-setters downtown; and, occaisionally, I work for her photographer-husband. I work six days a week so, I don't have a whole lot of free time but, believe me, I still make time for fun!

My Interests

MUSIC, movies, comedy, karaoke, guys in eyeliner, sushi, the beach, singing along with the radio, dancing around naked in my living room, reading... and I have a rather unhealthy obsession with the LA Times crossword :-) Do intelligent people with a great sense of humor count as a General Interest?

I'd like to meet:

Creative people who like to have fun, enjoy art and music, and care about others. If you're shallow and don't have a sense of humor, don't bother. As far as celebrities go... Angelina Jolie, Brendan Fraser, Natalie Portman, Billy Zane, Drew Barrymore, Mike Meyers, John Cleese, Tim Curry, John Lennon (if only he were still alive), and Eddie Izzard! :-)

Music:

Ok, this is tough, because I like a LOT of music... Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Def Leppard, Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Clash, Cure, Bowie, Prince, T Rex, TLC, Salt N Pepa, Snoop Dogg (I like old school hip hop/rap, don't like most of the new stuff), Beastie Boys, Bloodhound Gang, The Streets, Gorillaz, Jet, Hot Hot Heat, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rilo Kiley, 4 Non Blondes, Go Gos, Pat Benetar, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Madonna, Green Day, Blink 182, B-52's, ZZ Top, Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice Cooper, Alice In Chains, Motley Crue, The Cars, Queen, Huey Lewis, Blondie, Joan Jett, The Runaways, Stray Cats, Steve Miller Band, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Poison, AC/DC, Rob Zombie, Billy Joel, Earth Wind & Fire, AWB, Tower of Power, George Clinton & the Parlaiment Funkadelics, Stevie Wonder, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, U2, Death Cab For Cutie, My Chemical Romance, Pretty Girls Make Graves, System of a Down, The Police, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, NIN, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Black Flag, Fishbone, Mighty Mighty Boss Tones, The Dandy Warhols, Harvey Danger, Sublime, 311, Eve 6, Ben Folds Five, Weezer, X, Pixies, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, Audio Slave, Velvet Revolver, Jane's Addiction, Camp Freddy, Lou Reid, Iggy Pop, Frank Zappa, Bob Marley, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Elvis Costello... and SO many others!

Movies:

The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal Tap, Labrynth, Dark Crystal, Fight Club, Kill Bill (I &; II), Pulp Fiction, Resevior Dogs, True Romance, anything by Kevin Smith, anything by Tim Burton (especially if it's got Johnny Depp!), anything by Mel Brooks, Cry Baby, When Harry Met Sally, Snatch, Moulin Rouge, Velvet Goldmine, RHPS, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Kissing Jessica Stein, Death To Smootchie, Evil Dead, Austin Powers, Hackers ('cause Angelina Jolie's hot!), Monty Python &; The Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, A Fish Called Wanda, Wayne's World, Too Wong Foo, Office Space, Super Troopers, The Sweetest Thing...

Television:

The Simpsons, Nip/Tuck, CSI, Sex And The City, Ab Fab, Coupling (the original BBC series, not the crappy American copy), Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, Family Guy, Home Movies, Sea Lab 2021, Robot Chicken (Adult Swim rocks!), pretty much anything on Comedy Central and Cartoon Network, Behind The Music-type shows on VH1, and videos on MTV (I miss Celebrity Deathmatch.) Ooh, I think I watch too much TV. :-(

Books:

Everything I've ever read by Stephen King, especially The Eyes Of The Dragon, and the Dark Tower series. I also love books by Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne Rice, Gregory Maguire, Chuck Palahniuk, Roald Dahl, Shel Silverstein, C.S. Lewis, Dr. Seuss... :-) I really just love to read. My favorite subjects (genres?) are: Vampires, Sex (mmmm, erotica)... Whodunnits, Suspense, Fantasy (I just finished reading the latest Harry Potter book and can't wait for the next one to come out!) and, occaisionally I'll pick up something a little more spiritually enlightening.

Heroes:

The Beatles
