My Interests

'So why don't you dance to the music I hear inside my head. Why don't you dance to the music...it's the soundtrack for the end.' -kent

I'd like to meet:

Lloyd Dobler. If you even know what that means, it's a step in the right direction! After that, Ryan Adams or Ed Norton so I can molest them...whoever shows first.

Music:

I'm listening to THE EDITORS a bunch lately (thank Barstow for that one!) I'm re-discovering JIMMY EAT WORLD for some reason, and I think that's a good thing. The latest SPOON disc is so good it makes me want to cry. This band is certainly at the top of my list of reasons why I'm proud to call Austin home! I spent a week on the road with Gym Class, which always inspires me and turns me on to things I never would have discovered otherwise (Say Anything, for instance.) The latest INTERPOL disc is mad sexy...it makes me want to lick things. The band Travis rolled through town a few months ago and the show was nothing short of amazing...it cemented them in my heart as one of my favorite bands EVER! I'm beginning to think Damien Rice is the last person alive who knows how to FEEL. I've been stuck on the latest Kings of Leon lately. Before that I was stuck on the latest Modest Mouse (yes, I buy-into the whole hype around Johnny Marr being in the band and I think I can definitely hear his mark in the album.) Dana from RCA (insert PROPS here) sent me some stuff and I'm ashamed I didnt have Mark Ronson 'Versions' yet. IT'S RAD! The Kenna version of 'Amy' is killer! I've been listening to a lot of Travis lately. And Pinback, been listening to them lots. Been listening to Wolf Parade a bunch (props to Christine for the suggestion, by way of Vincent.) I recently went through some traumatic family stuff and Amy Winehouse got me through. I know it's cliche to dig her these days, but I do. I'm working bands called PARAMORE and THE ACADEMY IS... and I truly think they're great (not just me drinking the punch!) as is most everything on FUELED BY RAMEN. Needless to say, I'm ALL ABOUT Gym Class Heroes right now. The National 'Alligator.' Good shit, man. Aqualung 'Strange and Beautiful,' also good. Idlewild, Idlewild, Idlewild! I listen to KENT at least 100 times per week. Discs I carry with me at all times (yes, I'm a Record Executive who has yet to purchase an ipod!): Doves 'Some Cities,' Ray Lamontagne 'Trouble,' Damien Rice 'O,' The Arcade Fire 'Funeral,' and David Bowie 'Changesbowie.' Standards: U2, Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown, Black Crowes, The Smiths, Beck, Pete Yorn, Coldplay, REM, Police. Morrissey IS God! Popular rock hits of the 90s (okay, grunge! yeah, i said it!) Most anything Eurotrash...Cure, Depeche, New Order. I love the 80s. I'm also a recovering DMB fan...I sought help, and on weak days I phone my mentor. Sidenote...I'm also gay for Adam Duritz: I'm a chick, and he's a great lyricist. I've yet to mention Radiohead because that should go without saying.

Movies:

Top 5 Favorite Directors: Tim Burton, Cameron Crowe, Wes Anderson, PTA, and Kevin Smith. Tarantino is pure genius...I know that's straight out of an 'I Love the 90s' special, but it's true! John Hughes is the only reason I survived adolesence...I soooooooo wanted to be Molly Ringwald in 'Pretty In Pink.' As a matter of fact, I think I'm still working on that one! 'Napoleon Dynamite...' possibly the greatest movie ever made. I heart Shrek and pretty much everything related to Mike Myers. Guilty pleasure: cheesy British romantic comedy, ie pretty much anything starring Hugh Grant. What can I say? He makes me all warm and fuzzy.

Television:

'The Office' is truly the only show I'm obsessed with. 'Grey's Anatomy' has done nothing but disappoint me this season...but then I realize I'm a douche for even watching it, so I deserve to be miserable! 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' is wickedly funny and probably the best thing on television right now. 'Absolutely Fabulous,' arguably one of the best shows ever made. 'Seinfeld,' arguably THE best show ever made. 'Southpark'...utterly hilarious, ALWAYS! 'Family Guy.' Ali G cracks me up. I also live to love Conan.

Heroes:

Bill Murray, Cartman and that Randal character from 'Clerks.'..
