In the fall of 2003, Kascade began. Having been inspired by three chords (the only chords he could play at the time) Andrew contacted Pat, a novice pianist who really wanted a guitar, and invited him into his band. This was the start of something big, and only they could feel it.
The first year and a half of Kascade involved very little music. After locating a drummer (meaning a cheap drum kit and Andrew’s unskilled brother, Steve), they proceeded to photograph themselves anywhere and everywhere. By the winter of 2004, they had over 100 photographs of themselves, and one unrecorded song.
Talent aside, Kascade was confident, and gradually, photographs grew fewer as the song count increased. More time was spent in Andrew and Stephen’s basement cranking amps and pounding drums. “You have to reach a point where you can look stupid in front of each other, and know that it is for the sake of progress,†say Steve and Pat; a positive outlook upon their dead-slow commencement.
By the summer of 2006, they had a large enough repertoire to bring to vocal and instrumental phenomenon and digital master, John Paul. He spoke highly of their unique and creative sound. Kascade produced the Broken EP in December of that year, and the first consignment sold out within months their first show.
After winning the Battle of the Bands at Milly’s Tavern, they embarked upon their next project, The Bigger TV EP, in Nashville, under the guidance of another musical genius, Paul Buono. Listeners have commented on Kascade's significant improvement since '06. The Bigger TV EP is on sale now. Check out the itunes link, or come see Kascade perform.
