NYC marathon Nov 2nd 2008 DA TRUTH SPITTERS LIVE @ 125th and 5th ave.Da Truth Spitters have been described as the future of New York City hip-hop. Their lyrical style is of many styles and you never know what they will come up with when they create new work. They can go hard or they can go soft and easy with melodies that give their music a unique sound. No two songs sound the same as they play off what the music is saying. The music has longevity and has been proven at shows that it crosses over genres making them very marketable. They recently played for an all rock crowd and brought the house down. People came up to them giving them props for being "really fucking good" as quoted by one of the patrons.
As hip-hop artist, Da Truth Spitters have grown from doing school rap battles to performing on stage at places like Crash Mansion, 169 Bar, fashion shows and to putting together a cancer awareness tour slated for 2009. Music is their life but with Casino still in school, he must juggle both with school as a first priority. They have had the chance to work with various artist, including neighborhood artists and artists from around the world collaborated through the internet from Italy to the Canary Islands and it won't stop there.
They talk about real life issues that they see going on in their everyday life. Michael Brown(aka Casino)was a born writer, starting at the age of 13. His lyrical style, good looks and smooth voice gets the girls melting in his wake.
Izel Middleton(aka S.O.) started rapping in his freshman year of high school, doing collaborations with any and everybody, from friends to anyone who could make words rhyme. He battled Casino a few times and they decided to create DTS. Together they create a force to be reckoned with. Da Truth Spitters make music that people can dance to as well as think about and of course, cater to the ladies.
After shooting the music video "Let's Stay Together", DTS and Urban Mouse Entertainment teamed up and they are now managed by Spike, an old school DJ and Graffiti writer from way back in the beginning of the hip hop era. He helps guide them through these rough waters while learning from them also. Together they are forging their way to the top and having fun doing it.
The acronym D.T.S. stands for Determination, Truth and Strength, which is what we base ourselves as a group and individuals on this three things. Like most groups, we have had our share of hardships, from personal sacrifices to becoming stronger artist but like another acronym of DTS we are Determined To Succeed!HIT US UP AT:
