JOTAKA Fest 2008-- Celebrating my BirthdayThis Friday, Feb. 22nd at Mahogany in DC (11th and U Street NW) 9:00 pm -- NO CoverI am 29 year old DC woman trying to leave her mark on the world. With a passion for human rights, social justice, and friendship I approach everyday as an opportunity to leave an lasting impression.I am orginally from the big city of Johnsonville, SC home of the mighty Flashes. I was a cheerleader for 8 years (although you could never tell now). My family and friends are still in Johnsonville and I try to get there as much as I can.I went to college at the great University of South Carolina. That's where I spent 4 and 1/2 of the greatest years of my life--mostly in the Russell House. My proudest moment there was being elected Student Body President--making history and breaking the barrier for black woman in the school's 200 year history.I currently live and work in Washington DC, where I work for a progressive policy group. My work has taken me to over 40 states and 20 countries. My favorite country was South Africa.
