About Me

The Kynd are perhaps best remembered for their Andy Bell (Ride/Oasis) produced debut single 'Egotripper', a shimmering slab of 60's tinged fuzz pop, released by London based indie GoGo Girl/MGR Records during the summer of 1997.The Kynd were a product of the short lived 'Thames Valley Scene' and rose to prominence during the glorious summer of Britpop. The band were regular performers at; the 100 Club, Blow Up, the Barfly and various Student Union venues up and down the country. The band followed their first release with second single 'Worlds' Finest', its' rousing call to arms enhanced by Stax style horns and Indian tambouras.By the time first album 'Shakedown' was released at the end of 1999 the Kynd had built an enviable following across the UK and Northern Europe as well as adding keyboard player Richard Elson to the line-up. Their already incendiary live shows now razor sharp after countless support tours and a growing number of headline gigs.Japanese label Philter Records signed the band for Japan and released 'Shakedown' in the land of the rising sun to critical acclaim and some commercial success. On the eve of the new millennium and with a new albums' worth of material recorded, The Kynd imploded at the end of a particularly eventful tour. The band subsequently split acrimoniously.Anyone that was at one of the many gigs, especially the sold out 100 Club shows, will remember a genuinely exciting live act and a set of power pop gems.Check out the video for the Kynd's first single Egotripper below. Released in 1996 the record was produced by Andy bell and the video directed by Jason Glennister:And here's the video for second single, World's Finest. The single was released in 1997 and the video was shot on location on the South Bank, London:This video was cut for live favourite 'All There Is' and used footage from the Kynd's performance at the Ronnie Laine Tribute at the Marquee in 1997.
