About Me

I grew up in Hell's Kitchen, NYC with a single Mom and little sister, Marisa. As soon as I was old enough, I began working with Rise & Shine Productions a youth media arts program my mother started in my living room. Working on the award winning youth produced public access TV show "The Real Deal" I developed my love for making movies. I followed my path as an artist to Bard College. After graduation I planned to move to LA and pursue my career in the industry, until my mother was given six months to live: pancriatic cancer. I stayed home and tried to fill in for her at work while she recovered. After three years of battling cancer the doctor declared her a miracle and I moved to LA where I have spent the last four plus years working in the film industry first as a PA then as a non-union AD. All the while writing screen plays. I can't tell you how helpful working on an industry film set and seeing what it takes to go from the page to the screen helps to inform your writing process. I am currently working to raise the funds to shoot my first feature: Eavesdropping. A personal story about a mother and son. My other screenplays are Daydreamers, about four misfit 13 year olds' over active imaginations, First Try, a romantic sports comedy, Iron Tiger Kung Fu (versus the Ulster County Militia), martial arts versus machine guns, and The Desert, a Lynchian/Lovecraftian horror.

My Interests

Music:

I love all good music, but have a soft spot for Prince, poetic Hip Hop, soul, R&B, "classic" rock, atmo, jazz...

Movies:

I love Kirasawa, Godard, Renior, Early Spielberg, early Scorsese, early Coppola, early Carpenter, early Coen Bros, Sidney Lumet, Polanski, anything Soderberg, John Salyes, Mike Figgis, Cassevettes… Top Five Favorites of All Time (not in order): Sullivan's Travels, Chinatown, Do the Right Thing, Empire Strikes Back & Medium Cool.

Television:

I hate to say it, but I don't even know what's on network TV anymore. But I love all of the HBO orignal series and think the new Battlestar Galatica is the best thing on TV. Food Network. CNN (never Fox), ESPN, Bravo, History Channel... But mostly I like to change channels.

Books:

I try, repeat try to read fifty books a year. I usually get to around thirty-five. Some of it is history, new and classic fiction, best sellers but a lot of it is sci-fi/fantasy. Favorites: Moon is a Harsh Mistress, Stranger in a Strange Land, Animal Farm, 1984, Anything Azimov, George R.R. Martin, Robert Jordan, Everything I read in eighth grade.

Heroes:

My mother, who is a superhero. My father for how he spent his last years rebuilding his life and making restitutions in his relationships with those he'd hurt. And my Grandpa Bill who never took shit from anybody. I would love to have a career like John Sayles or Steven Soderberg.
