Jermaine A. Smith was born on April 24, 1973 in Lithonia, GA. He is the eldest son of Joyce Henderson, the late Archbishop Jimmie L. Smith and Ruth W. Smith. He is the second oldest of five siblings who include three sisters: Jimmetta, Tamica, Takiyah and one brother: Jeremiah.
Pastor Jermaine married Tracee Waller, an anointed woman of God, in December 1993. God has blessed them with three children who are the love of their lives: (2 daughters) Christian (11) and Trinity (6) and (one son) Zion (4).
After graduating from Lithonia High School in 1991, he attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He is an established real estate agent and a mortgage banker who has also obtained an AA in Leadership and Administrations. However, because of his commitment to his God-ordained assignment, he is currently completing his B.A. in Leadership and Administration at Beulah Heights University, Atlanta, GA.
Pastor Jermaine was saved at the age of six. He accepted his call to the ministry in July 1993. In May 2005, he was ordained at Light of the World Church under the auspices of his parents the late Archbishop Jimmie L. Smith and Dr. Ruth W. Smith, Senior Pastor. He served as Assistant Pastor and as the Minister of Music at Light of the World.
Pastor Jermaine is currently the Senior Pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Covington, GA. Not only is he a gifted teacher and pastor, he is also an accomplished musician. He understands that God’s Word is Relevant, Relational and...Real! One of his goals is to be an efficient witness of the Word of God so that others will be persuaded to follow Christ. He contends that true sermons are exemplified by a person’s lifestyle and not by their words.
Pastor Jermaine’s father had the most significant impact in his life: he led him to Christ; baptized him; mentored him; and married him. His father instilled the value of integrity and responsibility while demonstrating the magnitude of having a genuine love for people. In addition to his father, he acknowledges Pastor Eddie D. Smith (no relation), Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Macon, GA. While under his pastorate at Macedonia, at the age of 19, he heard the voice of God say, “It’s Time.â€
Pastor Jermaine believes that in order to be an effective servant leader, one must “Be diligent to present [himself] approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.†2 Tim 2:15. That’s his sole desire and with the help of the Holy Ghost, he continues to be established in the Word of God. His favorite scripture is I Peter 2:9: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
