First and foremost, I have two beautiful children, Jacob is 6 and Julia is 3. They keep me going, keep me fighting. I have gotten through all of this with the love and support of my family, friends and strangers. Thank you to all of you!
I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer in November of 2005. I had about 4 months of chemotherapy........lost all the hair on my body. Had a radical modified mastectomy left side and six weeks Monday through Friday radiation. "It has to be done". The chemo, the surgery, the radiation. The pain, the tears, the fight, the continuation of my life.
In October of 2006, when I thought I could put most of it behind me, the cancer came back in my skin and on my liver. I have had several chemo concoctions since then, including but not limited to: taxol, cytoxan, adiamycin, herceptin, xeloda, lapatinib, avastin, gemzar, taxol again, taxotere with clinical trial pill. I probably missed some. As I update this, June of 2008, the last clinical trial at Karmanos was not working and the liver and skin mets have grown, one of the three liver lobes has been taken over with cancer and there are multiple cells in the liver, it has also spread to my remaining breast. I start a new clinical trial June 24th that consists of an IV chemo, CBT 11 and an anti-cancer agent pill ABT-888. I will be very busy with this treatment, chemo injection two weeks in a row, pill for two weeks, a week off, it is a crazy schedule.....I am just going to take it two weeks at a time or I will get confused! Cancer on the liver is the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life, ibuprophen is my friend. Haven't really found any other prescription pain meds to work. Off to continue the fight!
I posted some of my paintings here. If you click on "pics" you can view them. Inflammatory Breast Cancer
the best way to detect it is with a biopsy or an MRI
