One of Canada's most talented lyricists, Fraction is set to blow the spot in 2008-2009. With the release of the album Necessary (as a member of the group Frac & Pro) and a solo album slated for release in late 2008, the 29 year-old emcee is due to recieve the recognition he so rightly deserves.
It was way back in 1991 when Fraction first picked up the pen. He hasn't stopped since. In 1995, Fraction and fellow emcee Sinista (collectively titled Minds In Chaos) released a self-titled EP. In 1998, Fraction made a memorable appearance on Pro-Logic's Beatdown Invasion Compilation with a verse on the song "Fractions." In 2000, he released his debut solo album titled Solidification which went on to sell more units than any other local release up to that point. In 2003, Fraction and Pro-Logic combined to form the group Frac & Pro and dropped the critically acclaimed Relevance album. In 2006, Frac & Pro, in conjunction with fellow Kitchener emcee Shua James, dropped "The Light" 12" inch, the first single off their 2007 release Necessary.
However, don't get it twisted. Fraction can do more than just spit. He has done cuts on a variety of projects and has become a distinguished force in the field of production. "I have been collecting records since I was a little kid," exclaims Fraction. He adds that "making beats and, thus, becoming self sufficient as an artist was a natural evolution."
Placing emphasis on both thought provoking lyrical content and original production, Fraction is bound to leave listeners craving for the next joint.
In 2007, Fraction was named one of the winners of 91.5 the Beat's Rhythm of the Future Contest. Since then, he has nearly completed his sophmore solo effort and has recently released the hit record "My Way" featuring the one and only Saukrates. Look for big things in 2009...
