Mrs. Shirley Johnson
Christopher Thompson recently completed his master’s degree in the choral conducting program at Michigan State University where he studied with Dr. David Rayl, Dr. Jonathan Reed, and Dr. Sandra Snow. Most recently he taught choral music, piano lab and music technology at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, CO. In his first two years at Creek he served as a vocal coach for the All School Musical. He also worked as a Junior Class Advisor for Student Senate and as a member of the school’s Faculty Senate.Prior to teaching at Cherry Creek High School Mr. Thompson taught K-12 music at the Vail Mountain School in Vail, CO. While at the school he was the head of the Performing Arts Department.Mr. Thompson graduated Cum Laude from Colorado State University with his Bachelor of Music degree and Education Licensure. While at CSU he served as president of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a National Men’s Music Fraternity (2001) and as the president of the University and Chamber Singers (1998-2000).While still in Denver, he sang a season with St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, a Denver based professional choir. He was also privileged to perform and sit on the board with The Alpine Chorale and sang in the Colorado Consort. During the holiday season he performed as a member of the Denver based Dickens Carolers.Mr. Thompson is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the Colorado Music Educators Association, Phi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Pi Lambda Theta, and Golden Key National Honor Society. In addition to his undergraduate studies Mr. Thompson has also studied music technology at the University of Northern Colorado and had the opportunity to attend the Rene Clausen Choral School.During the summer of 2004 he served as a chaperone for the Colorado Ambassadors of Music trip to Europe and as the director of the choir for their 2006 and 2008 tours.------------------------------------------------------
