Back Round Information About:

Joseph G. Bathon

Over 35 Years Of Photography Experience

Although I was born with Cerebral Palsy, I was raised in Elkton, Maryland with my 4 brothers and 1 sister as a normal member of the family by very strong and loving parents. I attended Catholic Schools along side of my siblings and was always expected to carry my own weight both at home and in school.

I saved my $0.25 weekly allowance and purchased my first camera for $14.95 at the age of 8 in 1965, {a Kodak Instamatic w/drop-in film cartridge} which I still own today. During my freshman year of high school, I began helping my best friend, Terry, develop black & white pictures in the school darkroom for the Year Book. From my summer job money, I purchased my first “professional camera” soon after. {a Cannon Ftb} By Senior Year, Terry and I produced 90% of our Senior Year Book ourselves. Throughout my College years I continued to take and develop all of my pictures for both the school newspaper and Year Book. After graduating I continued my photography and dark room work, primarily as a hobby.

In 1995 my then girlfriend, asked me to do a portfolio and web site for her. After her web page came out, several of her friends began asking me to do portfolios and web sites for them as well. Bay Modeling was born! In 1998 I purchased my first digital camera and left my dark room days behind. I am currently using my 4th & 5th digital cameras. {Nikon’s}

During 2001, an old C-Spine injury flared up and rendered me almost a quadriplegic. After two corrective surgery’s and 1 and ½ years of re-habilitation, [ I now use a walker] I sold my house in Elkton and moved to South West Florida for the warm sunny weather in December 2003. I re-named Bay Modeling to
Cape Modeling while renting my first house in Cape Coral. I purchased my current (& last) home in North Fort Myers in July 2005. I have a fully equipped studio set up in my home as well as doing location shoots.

If you are interested in having a portfolio of your own, either for personal use or for a modeling career, I would be happy to discuss your needs with you. Always keep in mind, due to the Cerebral Palsy you “may” have some difficulty understanding me on the phone at first. Don’t let it stop you though, because it has “NEVER” stopped me!
