I live for literature, creative writing, philosophy- anything requring the prerequisite of intellectualism. If there's one thing I love, it's being able to hold a deep conversation with someone of unique opinions- especially if its a complete stranger. If there's one thing I hate, it's being stuck in a conversation with someone who still hasn't learned their ABC's or has not an ounce of originality in them. I'm a flautist, an alto in two chorus', an indulgent reader, and a profuse fan of anything rock or original. That's me in a thin nutshell- crack me open and enjoy. =]
Don't speak to me if you're not going to give me a chance to respond. Don't expect anything less than an open-mind from me and I won't expect anything less from you.
Anything rock... Want some bands? The Strokes, Relient K, A Perfect Circle, AFI, Avenged Sevenfold, Autopilot Off, Brand New, Chevelle, Deftones, Disturbed, Finch, Fuel, Green Day, Ima Robot, Incubus, Jewel, John Mayer, Kansas, Kittie, Korn, Lifehouse, Linkin Park, LIT, Lost Prophets, Mae, Maroon 5, Matchbox Twenty, Mest, Norah Jones, POD, Primus, Puddle of Mudd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shadows Fall, Smile Empty Soul, Staind, Stone Sour, Switchfoot, The Darkness, The Donnas, The Eagles, The Offspring, The Mars Volta, The Postal Service, The Streets, Thrice, Tool, Vertical Horizon, Weezer, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Yellow Card. I like a whole bunch of classical stuff too... But not Beethoven or Bach. I'm more of a Tchaikovsky or Enescu person. I love Chopin, maybe Mozart depending on what key it's in. Mostly French flute pieces because they're so hard to play (but mostly because they're so original).
Finding Nemo, A Walk to Remember, Gothika, Lost in Translation, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, anything Monty Python, Charlie Chaplin stuff, About a Boy, Possession, LOTR, Shrek (1 & 2)... Those are the only ones I can think of. Oo... I'm so bad at remembering movies.
Comedy Central [3 Chapelle (Rick James, Bish) and Mad TV] and Fuse are my only television loves. NO, I HATE American Idol, so don't even start. And those 'reality' TV shows should be put through a long death.
Oh man... Where to start? Fiction-wise, I'd have to go with anything Stephen King. I love Aldous Huxley (Brave New World is one of my favorites, hence the research paper I wrote this year on the novel) and Dickens. Also Anthony Burgess for A Clockwork Orange. Naturally, Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451), Hermann Hesse, Nathaniel West ("Day of the Locust"), and Orson Welles (1984, Animal Farm). Non-fiction is a whole 'nother story: Nietzsche, Roland Barthes, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and Micheal Parenti are some of my favorites, but I could go on forever about philosophers and my undying love for what they do. Poetry includes anything Beatnick (3 Ginsberg's "Howl" and "Kaddish"), Robert Frost's "Choose Something Like a Star," all of Edgar Allen Poe (poetry and short stories), Shell Silverstein (=D) of course.
No one beats my dad. He's the only one, I reckon.
