No stranger to the studio or stage, Tashawn King was born to sing. As a native Bostonian and baritone by nature, he has amassed his own collection of what many have called R&B classics.
Singing since the age of five, today Tashawn is an accomplished internationally known singer, songwriter and performing tour de force.
No rookie to the music industry, Tashawn is the former lead singer of the all male group Homework , a group launched by former New Edition founder and manager Maurice Starr. As a result, his tenure in the group afforded him the opportunity to learn the meaning of true teamwork; being signed to a major record label, artist development and touring.
After the groups dissolve, Tashawn decided to concentrate his efforts on strengthening his songwriting ability and pursue a serious quest to control his musical destiny by walking in the path of his influences, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Teddy Pendergrass as a solo artist.
Following the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed self-titled solo debut "Tashawn King", he is back in the studio completing work on his much anticipated follow-up.
The official first single "That's Not Real Love" from his forthcoming release is fastly being added to radio playlists across the country. In between recording, Tashawn shares the stage with some of the most recognizable names in music like Ne-Yo and Chris Brown, delivering unforgettable soul stirring performances.
Armed with a genuine love and appreciation for merging voice with melody, Tashawn King is looking forward to continuing to present his own individual style of smooth, urban contemporary, old and new school R&B.
2007 is predicted to be a great year for a man who truly loves his craft, his fans and life itself. Tashawn King will be performing August 22nd-24th on the UPN Network show Community Auditions. The show was taped a few months back at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. The show will air on the 22nd and rebroadcast on the 23rd and 24th. Don’t miss this incredible performance.
