Shocking Murray was born in Snow Hill Portland, Jamaica. At the age of 7 he started to rap amoung family and friends. Surprised about this 7 year old boy, the community loved and started to recognize the talent of this boy.
At the age of 9, Shocking Murray started to rap for the number one soundsystem, Libratone. Slowly but surely the word started to spread and soon he was noticed and wanted all over the Island.
In 1990 Shocking Murray recorded his first single "Drum" at Jack Scorpio Studios in Kingston Jamaica which was released on the I us label.
In the same year I us decided to release two more singles with Shocking Murray titled "Big Chest" and "Man Lyricks" together with Daddy Fish.
In 1991 Shocking Murray recorded another single this time with Samantha Rose at Penthouse Studios which was released, with success, in the U.S.
Naturally motivated from the success over in the United States, Shocking Murray took it to the next level!
In 1992 he linked up with Michael Rose (Black Uhuru), who was very interested in Shocking Murray's talent. They started recording at the Bussout Studios in Kingston Jamaica. Together with Chris & Squdley, Michael Rose created the songs "Position" and "Heaven Holiday" which were released and distributed by Tuff Gong.
Together with Antonio, Shocking Murray started a production at the Celestial Studios in Kingston for the Sunvibes Crew from Germany.
It was at the Native Studios in Port Antionio where Shocking Murray and Antonio linked up again to record their hit "Woman you me want".
After huge success Murray decided to expand his carreer in Europe and travelled across the continent with the Top Frankin´Soundsystem. While he toured across Europe people started to recognize him and he became quickly known all over the Continent. In 2003 Murray linked up with Producers "Pure Doze & Funky Chris" during a production at Strong Island Studios in Germany. To continue success, Murray decided immediately to start producing his Longplayer. The first Single "Wot time is it?" was released on April 4th 2005 on MK-Musik.
After his Clubhit "Wot time is it?" Shocking Murray was coming back with his new single "Seal it up"! This exceptional single was taken from the upcoming album "Rise to the top" and it stands out against the big flood of new releases today. This new dancehall classic was produced by Pure Doze and Funky Chris, better known from the band "Too Strong". Doze and Chris did also productions for artists like Grandmaster Melle Mel or Horace Brown which made the "Strong Island Studio" well known.
Now it is time for the album. The album "Rise to the top" will be released this summer and contains features from "House of Riddim", "Pow Pow Movement" and "Kimberley".
