Studies have long shown that regular exercise is an essential component of healthy living. Currently, Americans young and old are facing a state of crisis when it comes to weight control, and physical fitness. However, many individuals lack focus and direction when it comes to proper exercising techniques, as well as the ability to maximize their workout. I am an experienced and dedicated trainer equipped with both the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement the perfect weight training program for both beginners and life long athletes.
My commitment to physical fitness started during my childhood in Chicago, Illinois. As a youth, I participated and excelled in baseball and football leagues. While in college, I began weight training with Frank Ekston, a former collegiate strength coach who served under Bobby Knight at Indiana University. I am able to push others to reach their potential, because I have routinely pushed myself. I have competed at local, national, and international levels in Olympic weightlifting. During the competitions, I set Indiana State Records, and was also a member of the 2004 Olympic Trails and Under 23 team.
Beyond my own personal success, I have greatly contributed to the success of others, mainly young people. I was an assistant coach for a community Olympic development program. I have also coached high school, college and semi-pro athletes in sports such as basketball, football, baseball, softball, golf, volleyball, swimming, and wrestling. Most recently, I implemented a weight training program at Kenwood Academy on Chicago’s Southside, and coached the Wrestling team.
My latest mission to see people reach their goals of physical and mental fitness takes the form of PHLI Weight, a weight training program I created myself. Currently, I implement the program at Phenomenal Fitness, Chicago’s premier gym. At Phenomenal Fitness I lead both individual and group workouts which build people up, rather than tear them down. My experience working with young people, gives him a keen ability to simultaneously encourage people, while still pushing them to work harder. I am a certified personal trainer, and have worked with a wide array of clients including athletes and entertainers, and those just starting to get in shape. I make no judgments, and genuinely want to see each person achieve to the best of his or her ability.
