MY REVENGE! was formed in May of 2001 in Burlington, Vermont.
My Revenge! means a reaction to the injustice in society. Revenge by breaking away and taking a different path to strive for the improvement of yourself, as well as hopefully others and the world in general. Revenge by thinking for yourself and questioning what society tries to feed you on a daily basis. Revenge by fighting with intelligence and love instead of petty stupidity and violence that hurts everyone. Revenge by trying to stay positive and motivated, even when the world tries to get you down. My Revenge is about individuality, believing in yourself and the power within oneself to change the world, even if in some small way, toward a greater good.
My Revenge stands for Skateboarding, building our own ramps and then taking them on the road, barbecuing on tour, playing only all-ages shows with no barriers, running around naked in public, being proud of how not tough we are, wearing Santa Claus and Gorilla suits live, speaking in between songs about what they are about, dogpiles, the right of homosexuals to marry whomever they are in love with, keeping record prices low, getting kicked out of every hotel we stay at in the United States, emptying 70 pounds of feathers and garbage on the stage, working together instead of being competitive, breaking all of our equipment and subsequently not having any functional equipment ever, being chased by the Japanese police, keeping a message vital in hardcore, standing against intolerence and bigotry, moshing down the countertop at Waffle House, chewing up and spitting out nasty old food on each other, not being pre-planned or contrived, finding swimming holes on tour, adhering to a Do-It-Yourself punk rock ethos, his holiness Heaven's Bakery himself: Eric Smith, dry humping nuns, converting rollerbladers into skateboarders, touring as much as possible, and a never ending battle over whether Metallica are better than Black Sabbath.
The concept of "less Plot, more blood" is about being motivated to do something positive with your life. It means "less talk, more action." Don't just sit around talking about living, go out and seize the day, at least try and make a change.
My Revenge is about having fun, and everyone being on the same level - Six feet of earth makes all of us equal. No hierarchies or status bullshit. We don't have any fans, the people watching us are friends to us. You won't see our picture in Alternative Press magazine because we don't wear makeup and we don't play music to try and look good and get girls. We make out with more men than we do women anyway.
We sound like a circus train crashing into a flea market. It is not radio friendly. There are not "hooks" or "catchy melodies" We don't refer to the places we tour as "Markets."
We're not interested, nor have we ever been interested in getting big. We consider ourselves successful, not by how many people are in the audience or how many records we've sold. That's not success. How many people moshing to your band is not success. Success to us means playing what we want to play, on our own terms. Success to us means sounding like garbage - a harmonious catastrophe. A beautiful trainwreck of chaos being held together by at least being energized, raw and genuine about what we're playing.
We have toured the U.S. 6 times, played in Mexico, toured The U.K. and Japan. So far, we have released 5 records: Two 7"s, and three full lengths. We hope to tour Alaska in early 2007, as well as more touring elsewhere, and release another EP.
